"Grey's" Star Checked In to UCLA Psych Ward

TMZ has learned actor Justin Chambers, Dr. Alex Karev on "Grey's Anatomy," checked himself in to the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center this week. Yes, it's the same place ...

Chambers' rep confirmed to TMZ that star checked in on Monday and checked out yesterday.

The rep claims Chambers, a married father of five, was "exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder. He went in voluntarily to get some help."

Chambers was in the same ward where Britney is being treated.

62. Watch it Justin. The pap are known to attempt any trick to get a photo and story. And, have been known to sneak into hospitals under false pretenses...posing as staff members, a patients family member, flower delivery person. They're classless leaches, obvious by the way they have tresspassed on your right to privacy!

65. I think it's great. Good for him. I'm sure he could have gotten in somewhere 'under the radar' but he chose not to. Nothing to be ashamed of. As far as it ruining his credibility, that's the dumbest GD thing I've ever heard of.

70. Hospitals have reporting requirements to the state in which they are licensed and the numerous regulatory authorities who sanction their clinical treatment. No hospital is going to be able to code/bill and pass the regulatory rigor of a patient being tired and out of sorts and then get reimbursed in any fashion from a payor; further no physician is going to be able to notate to that affect and be able to support their billing.

This doesn't make sense - a spa is for a tired person in need of rejuvenating; a psychiatric ward in an academic medical center must follow strict guidelines.

This is poor reporting and either: 1. doesn't have credibility or 2. is incapable (for whatever reason) of getting the real story.
