"Grey's" Star Checked In to UCLA Psych Ward

TMZ has learned actor Justin Chambers, Dr. Alex Karev on "Grey's Anatomy," checked himself in to the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center this week. Yes, it's the same place ...

Chambers' rep confirmed to TMZ that star checked in on Monday and checked out yesterday.

The rep claims Chambers, a married father of five, was "exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder. He went in voluntarily to get some help."

Chambers was in the same ward where Britney is being treated.

181. hmmm, if I checked into a rehab or psych ward, it would not be considered "chic" or "hip"...I would lose everything but these folks can do it and its considered "getting away" for a bit. ???? I have a severe sleep disorder and I TRULY AM exhausted. too bad for shmucks like me huh I have to laugh

183. Anyone condemning or belittling him has NO idea what havoc sleep deprivation can wreak. If someone couldn't breathe, you'd accept their need for a ventilator and whatever it took to get them breathing on their own again. If someone couldn't digest food for some reason, or they were dehydrated, you'd accept that professional help was a good thing. All basic needs. Dysregulation in any of them is life-threatening. As with sleep.

Is it the psych ward you object to? Where else in the hospital would you suggest?

Chambers has kids, btw.

184. when is grey's anatomy on? I never get a chance to see the show? I am too busy doing other things. Brittney is BS. her innitials are bs. we all know what that means!?! It is not meant for children.
when you got five kids. It makes you really NOT attractive to single woman. GET WELL! STRANGER!
